MEET BOB CALLAHAN
A deep connection to our community
I’m a lifelong Portlander with an enduring commitment to Oregon values. I was born in Portland, went to school in Portland, and have worked as a lawyer here in Multnomah County nearly all my life. I’ve spent my career advocating for everyday people navigating the legal system, seeking justice, and taking on numerous pro bono cases.
I work closely with people in the legal system who suffer from mental illness, drug addiction, and homelessness. My hands-on experience has given me deep insight into Portlanders’ everyday struggles. I have worked with police, prosecutors, judges, psychologists, psychiatrists, treatment providers, and families. This firsthand experience has given me deep insight into the solutions that do and don't work. It's also helped me to develop the strong leadership, teamwork, and consensus-building skills I believe are needed for an effective City Council.
I am passionate about our community – and I want to use the wisdom, insights, and knowledge I have gained through my 35 years of legal experience to make Portland a safe and vibrant place to live.
